Eurofins Eaton Analytical (EEA) in South Bend, IN conducted an inventory and realized that it should have an electron capture device (ECD) in its possession. The EEA then performed a thorough investigation of its facilities and records but the lost ECD was not found. The ECD was manufactured by Varian and according to the EEA's findings, the ECD may have been disposed by Varian before 2008. Varian has been sold twice, and the three companies that it falls under claim that they do not possess the Varian ECD records.
