On April 10, 2014 a device that measures density in roadwork containing a radioactive source was stolen from the construction firm Sierra Nevada in Temuco, Chile. According to the authorities, the device was sold by the perpetrators for 300,000 Chilean pesos to the owner of a turnery located in Chacalluta 1794 street, in Temuco. The radioactive device was seized inside of the turnery by a police team on April 17, 2014. The owner of the turnery fled, but his wife who had also fled was found and arrested a few days later. Investigation is ongoing.
