Around January 16, 2013, two surface gauges containing CS137 and RA226 were found in locked storage in a remote airfield facilities building at Worcester Regional Airport. The Massachusetts Radiation Control Program received notification of the incident on March 19, 2013 and conducted a site visit to confirm device identifications on March 26, 2013. Packaging and removal of the devices is scheduled for April 17, 2013. Subsequent reporting indicates that the devices contained 5 mCi RA226 and 3 mCi CS137 and had been manufactured in 1961. The devices were wipe tested and found to be free of no leakage of radioactive contamination.
