An inhabitant of the Cheremshansky District of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan found a metal container holding a capsule that contained radioactive Plutonium-Beryllium neutron radiation source originally lost in transit on July 24 by Danil Galimov, an engineer-geophysicist at the AMK "Gorizont" research and production company. Geophysicists had used the radioactive source in oil well research and mineral exploration. Upon finding the container, the inhabitant turned it in to the company. The Cheremshansky District Prosecutor since filed an administrative offense against Galimov, and the case has been referred to the Upper Division of the Volga Interregional Territorial Department for Supervision of Nuclear and Radiation Safety for further consideration.
