CBRN event in North Carolina, Durham area, United States of America on Sat 11th February 2017

A source with U235 was loaned to Duke University through Los Alamos National Laboratory for experimentation and research. During an experiment, it was determined that the integrity of the source was compromised and started leaking. Duke personnel had no exposure, but contamination was discovered outside of anticipated areas. It has since been contained and no members of the public were exposed. Duke University conducted a full investigation into the event and identified all individuals who may have been exposed and had them examined for exposure. At the time of the report, Duke is continuing to investigate the incident and shut down the lab in which it occurred until corrective action can be taken.
