On September 20, 2017, police detained a 25-year-old man attempting to take a lead cake contaminated with radioactive material weighing almost 15 kilograms from the territory of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The action was found at the Semihody checkpoint when hand luggage checking was conducted. According to law enforcement officers, the detainee was going to sell radioactive lead on the black market. The individual was arrested for violating the Chernobyl zone.
