On April 13, 2015, a device containing dangerous category 2 IR192 material was stolen from a vehicle in Cárdenas, Mexico. The civil defense forces and respective agencies were informed, and surrounding districts were put on alert as well. On the morning of April 22, 2015, the authorities received a phone call regarding a suspicious object that matched the description of the stolen item. As per the information given over the phone, the case with the radioactive equipment was found abandoned under a toll bridge. The material has been seized and is being inspected to verify if it has been tampered with.
