On March 25, 2013, a report was issued stating that Russian police detained a college teacher in Moscow who possessed 14 kg of radioactive substances in his home. The police did not disclose the name of the man nor the nature and origin of the materials, but the suspect claimed he had acquired them at burial sites. The man reportedly planned to use the substances to irradiate a friend who wanted to become immortal. He has been charged with illegal handling of radioactive substances and faces a prison sentence of up to seven years if convicted.
