On August 31, 2013, it was reported that Chennai airport officials discovered radioactive material, in two marked boxes, while clearing unclaimed cargo. The officials believe the material has been lying unattended for five years. After inspecting the materials, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) experts concluded that only one of the boxes contained radioactive material. Further reporting indicates that the radioactive material was CS137 and that it was imported from the U.S. company Troxler. The AERB will dispose of the material at the Kalpakkam power station.
