A canister with a radioactive material warning sign was found in a garden shed by the homeowners of a property in Tadley, UK on Sunday, May 18th 2014. The canister containing radioactive source CS137 used in the calibration of detection equipment and density gauges amongst other uses, was seized by the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE). Whilst an AWE spokesman stated that there was a low threat level to the environment, fire rescue specialists, environmental protection units, a hazardous area response team and two ambulances were sent to the area to further assess the situation and to examine three people as precautionary measures. Just over fifteen properties were evacuated and the area cordoned off as further investigations are conducted, and as the proper disposal method is agreed upon.
