CBRN event in Viet Nam on Wed 25th March 2015
25th March 2015
A 45kg, 45cm x 15cm lead box containing CO60 used in liquid steel measuring activities was discovered missing on March 25, 2015 at Vietnam's Pomina 3 steel mill in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. It was last recorded at the mill in late 2014 when it was removed from a broken mill production line, but there are no documents that confirm it was sent to the mill's warehouse afterwards. Dao Duc Hung, the factory's radiation safety officer changed jobs shortly before March 25, and he reportedly does not know its whereabouts. Officials suspect it may have been stolen for metal recycling. The source releases 2.5 millisieverts/hr at 10 cm distance.
