A "highly radioactive" radium deck marker was found buried under a housing development at Hunter's Point Parcel A. The device was removed and the area cleaned.The area had been previously declared free of radioactive material in May by public officials, but is being rescanned after admission that the Navy's cleanup contractor Tetra Tech had faked radiation measurements in nearby sites. The Department of Public Health has hired a third party to investigate the object.
