On 21 May 2024, the military conducted firing and bombing operations in Barangay Puangi (Dipaculao, Aurora, Central Luzon). Human rights group Karapatan Central Luzon said the military used helicopters to drop bombs on the village and condemned the operation, describing it as 'indiscriminate'. The military denied Karapatan's claims, stating there was no indiscriminate firing and bombing. They said the Philippine Air Force only used machine guns and rifle grenades while pursuing NPA militants. There was no reported gun battle with the militants. There were no casualties.
