On 28 May 2024, in Kawkareik town (Kawkareik township, Kawkareik district, Kayin state), a 50-year-old local female civilian was injured by a landmine explosion in the backyard of her house in No.4 ward at around 2 pm. The victim was known to be an IDP who recently returned home after fleeing home. The victim lost one of her legs.
