On 4 June 2024, in Dawei town (Dawei township, Dawei district, Tanintharyi region), a bomb exploded and killed 3 children in a primary school in the Eain Shayt Pyin ward around 12:30 pm when a child stepped on it. Around 25 children were also injured. Irrawaddy reported that the explosion occurred when a child stepped on it. Eleven Media Group and KIC reported that the explosion occurred when a child found a grenade and threw it away. Mizzima and Independent Mon News Agency reported that a child was killed while other media reported that 3 children were killed. Fatalities coded 1 as the lowest estimate.
