On 8 June 2024, in Tha Pyay Thar (Let Pan Tan) village of Htan Taw Seik village tract (Sagaing township, Sagaing district, Sagaing region), the military conducted airstrikes by dropping two bombs and fired ten rockets on the village monastery where the People's Defense Force PaKaPha, People's Security Force (PSF), People's Administration Team, Royal Falcon Guerrilla Force, their allied forces and locals were holding a meeting at around 11:15 am. Two monastery buildings and 30 houses were destroyed. Khit Thit Media reported that 7 PDF members and locals were killed. Radio Free Asia reported that 16 PDFs and locals, including two monks, were killed and 22 others were injured. DVB reported that 8 people, including 2 monks, 4 PDFs and 2 locals, were killed. Mizzima, reported that 16 people were killed. The Irrawaddy reported that the airstrikes killed 13 people and injured 40 others. MPA reported that more than 20 locals including two monks were killed and many were injured. More than 100 houses in the village were also destroyed. Fatalities coded as 7 for the lowest estimates.
