Mine event in Sistan and Baluchistan, Patkouki area, Iran, Islamic Republic of on Sun 23rd June 2024

Mehr Bibi Siahani, a Baloch woman from Saravan in Sistan and Baluchistan, lost her life due to the explosion of landmines planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran. Over the past six months, seven people have died due to landmine explosions in the borders of Sistan and Baluchistan.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Friday, June 21, 2024, Mehr Bibi Siahani, 70 years old and a resident of the village of "Patkouki" in Saravan, died as a result of a landmine explosion.

As reported by Haalvsh, this woman immediately died from the landmine explosion while herding livestock in the Kalgan region of Saravan, and her body was buried at her residence.

Based on statistics recorded by the Center for Statistics and Documents of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 14 people have fallen victim to landmine explosions in the borders of Sistan and Baluchistan since the beginning of 2024 (approximately six months), with seven of them losing their lives. Among the 14 victims, seven were Afghan nationals.
