US-led coalition launches drone from Iraq, killing multiple Syrian nationals
A MQ-1C multipurpose drone of the US-led international coalition, launched from Iraqi territory, has hit a truck in Syria, killing and injuring multiple Syrian nationals, Yurii Popov, the deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, said.
"At about 10:30 p.m. [19:30 GMT] on June 21, a MQ-1C multipurpose drone of the so-called 'international anti-terrorist coalition,' from Iraqi airspace, without violating Syrian airspace, struck a truck moving in the area of the city of Abu Kamal. Syrian citizens have been killed and injured as a result of the attack," Popov said.
The US-led coalition has violated the deconfliction protocols eight times over the past 24 hours, the Russian official also said. Furthermore, a total of 11 violations by a pair of F-15 fighter jets, a pair of Typhoon fighter jets, three pairs of A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft and an MQ-9 Reaper drone of the US-led coalition were recorded in the Al-Tanf area during the day, Popov added.
