A portal monitor at Colombo port was triggered by a container arrived from Mumbai India and Sri Lanka customs informed the AEA that container showed a high radiation level. The AEA team visited the site on 13.09.2012 and detailed analysis of the container was done with portable radiation survey meters and nuclide analyzers. One side of the container indicated high radiation level. container was opened and contaminated items were identified. 128 packages of steel bowl were contaminated with Co-60.
