On 2 December 2020, a roadside IED planted by Al Shabaab militants, targeting government security forces (QRF- Quick reaction forces) who responded to the ambush that happened earlier in Buunda Midow village (coded separately), detonated at Gasarta village (Baydhaba, Bay). Al Shabaab claimed killing five soldiers and injuring six others.
