Several shots were fired at a door to a residence in Kungsängen in central Uppsala during the night towards Tuesday. One person was in the apartment and police are investigating attempted murder.

It was just before midnight that the police were called to Kungsängen after several residents raised the alarm about loud bangs. Once on the scene, the police found that several shots had been fired at the front door of an apartment. Inside the residence was a person who escaped unharmed.

The incident is classified as attempted murder.

- We cordoned off the scene and interrogated several witnesses and carried out a technical investigation to secure any traces at the scene, says Pelle Vamstad, press contact at the police.

No one is in custody for the shooting, and the police are not commenting on whether they have any suspects at the moment.

It wasn't just in Uppsala that shots were fired during the night. In Salem, southwest of Stockholm, a man was shot to death .

- Given what has happened in our region over the past year, we are of course looking at a connection between the acts of violence. I can't say more than that at the moment, says Pelle Vamstad.
