Around 2,300 people had to leave their homes in Bochum on Wednesday afternoon. A 500 kilogram bomb was found during exploratory works in the Hiltrop district. The evacuation took a good four hours.

The evacuation circle was also the A 43. It therefore had to be closed on Wednesday evening between the Bochum and Bochum-Riemke crosses. Only then could the defuser start his work. At 20.40 then the all-clear, everything worked. According to the city of Bochum, around 250 volunteers have helped to defuse.
