Kurdish Man Injured in a Landmine Explosion in Qasr-e Shirin: Five Kurdish Individuals Affected Within Five Days

An individual was injured due to the explosion of a dormant landmine left over from the eight-year Iran-Iraq war in the border areas of Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah (Krmashan) province. In less than a week, at least five Kurdish individuals have been killed or injured by landmine explosions in the cities of Qasr-e Shirin, Piranshahr, and Oshnavieh.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, a landmine explosion near the "Aq Dagh" area of Qasr-e Shirin, in Kermanshah province, injured a harvester driver while harvesting wheat.

The police commander of Qasr-e Shirin, Iman Moradi, told state media that the injured individual was transported to medical centers by local residents, and his condition is reported to be stable.

Based on data recorded by the Statistics and Documents Center of the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, since the past five days, at least one Kurdish individual in Oshnavieh has been injured by a landmine explosion, and four other individuals have been injured in the cities of Oshnavieh, Piranshahr, both in west Azerbaijan province (Urmia), and Qasr-e Shirin.
