On 8 December 2020, two IEDs by Al Shabaab militants detonated, targeting an AMISOM UNDF convoy from Shalaambood and heading to Danow, passing near Danow village (Marka, Lower Shabelle). The explosions badly damaged the battlewagon, with two soldiers allegedly killed.
