On 18 May 2024, in Mone town (Kyaukkyi township, Taungoo district, Bago-East region), a landmine explosion occurred and injured a 26-year-old woman in the No.1 ward. The woman stepped on the landmine while on her way to fetch water from the Mone River. She lost two of her legs.
