On 18 May 2024, between Htein Kaing and Kyun Bay villages (coded as Htein Kaing (Kone)) (Mindon township, Thayet district, Magway region), a combined force of the Student Armed Force and the Warriors of Liberation Force carried out a mine attack against around 60 Myanmar military troops coming from Nga Kone village in two vehicles at around 5:30 am. Khit Thit Media and Mizzima reported that 20 military soldiers were injured. Another source DVB reported that 12 military troops were killed, and eight others sustained injuries. Fatalities coded as 0 for the lowest estimates.
