On 20 May 2024, in Hkat Shu village (Waingmaw township, Myitkyina district, Kachin state), the Myanmar military stationed in Myitkyina town fired heavy weapons that fell and exploded in the Kwat Thit area around 12 pm and killed 6 locals including two children. 11 locals were injured. 2 more locals who were injured and hospitalized died on 22 and 23 May. Fatalities coded 8 as the most recent update.
