On 22 May 2024, Turkish army carried out shelling against PKK militants in Gire Amediye area (Kurdish name) of Zap region (Al Amadiya district), Duhok. In conjunction, Turkish army warplanes carried out strikes in the area. HPG (PKK) claimed that Turkish forces used explosives and bombs containing poisonous gas during the shelling, but this was not confirmed by other sources. Casualties unknown.
