Russia launched a massive missile attack on energy facilities in Vinnytsia

On the night of May 8, Russia launched a massive missile attack on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. An air raid alert was declared throughout the country. Electricity generation and transmission facilities in six regions were hit: Poltava, Kirovograd, Zaporozhye, Lvov, Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia, said the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.

According to him, the consequences of the attack are being clarified, and power engineers are already working to eliminate them. Ukrenergo confirmed damage to equipment at one of the generation facilities in the central region. The missile attack was also aimed at Kyiv. However, according to the head of the Kiev city military administration, Sergei Popko, all air targets in the capital area were destroyed by air defense systems.

He also clarified that the strike was carried out by Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 missiles, which were launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers.

“The enemy does not abandon plans to deprive Ukrainians of light. Economical use of electricity is the contribution of each of us to victory. Responsible consumption in the morning and evening hours is especially important,” Galushchenko noted.
