On 26 April 2024, near Montecristo municipality (Bolivar), a miner was heavily injured after stepping onto a landmine in the Amaseri sector. The Gulf Clan and the ELN have installed landmines in the rural areas of the Montecristo and Santa Rosa del Sur municipalities. Locals and human rights defenders have demanded the presence of military forces and the international community to protect civilians in the area and provide humanitarian assistance. There were no fatalities.
