On 1 May 2024, between Kanyutkwin and Nyaung Pin Thar towns (coded as Kanyutkwin) (Phyu township, Taungoo district, Bago-East region), unidentified local defense forces blew up the Nga Nu Than bridge located on the Yangon-Mandalay highway with mines at about 2 am. On the same day, local defense forces carried out mine attacks against the Yangon-Mandalay railway located 700 meters from the Nga Nu Than bridge, causing the train to derail. The military claimed that the KNLA and the PDF were responsible for the attacks. Casualties unknown.
