On 20 April 2024, near Hnan Me Taung village (Kyaukpyu township, Kyaukpyu district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military planted a landmine which exploded and injured a 70-year-man who was going to his farm near the Nyaung Tein Taung around 7 am. His left leg was cut under the knee due to the landmine explosion.
