On 23 April 2024, the Nigerian military vehicle triggered an IED suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram along Allawa- Pandogari road, coded to Alawa (Shiroro, Niger). The explosives killed two soldiers and injured nine others. The incident and other attacks from Boko Haram within the week forced the Nigerian military to withdraw from the town. There were two fatalities.
