On 23 April 2024, in a rural area of El Plateado (Cauca), a motorcycle-bomb was detonated, causing damages to buildings, vehicles, and homes in the Pueblo Nuevo sector, injuring one civilian. The perpetrators are unknown, but there is presence of the Carlos Patino, Jaime Martinez, and Dagoberto Ramos FARC Dissident groups in the area. Schools were suspended in the area because of the rising levels of insecurity. Last month the government had suspended the ceasefire with FARC dissidents in the Cauca, Narino, and Valle del Cauca departments. There were no fatalities.
