Missile event in Yemen on Fri 26th April 2024

On 26 April 2024, at around 5:50 pm Sanaa time, Houthi forces fired 3 anti-ship ballistic missiles targeting the Andromeda Star crude oil tanker (IMO: 9402471) in the South Red Sea around 14 nm southwest of Al Mukha claiming UK affiliation of the ship. There were no fatalities or injuries although the ship sustained minor damage. The ship previously had links to UK company Union Maritime Limited although the links did not exist anymore at the time of the attack. The ship was carrying Russian crude oil during the attack and was previously reported to be part of the Russian 'shadow fleet' carrying Russian oil despite sanctions. CENTCOM also noted that the missiles were launched in the vicinity of the Maisha crude oil tanker (IMO: 9232929).
