On 29 December 2020, a convoy carrying logistical materials for the US belonging to a contractor (Iraqi company, drivers and security) for the Global Coalition was targeted by an unidentified group with an IED on a highway in As Samawah district, Muthanna. No damage was caused. This is the same convoy that hit an IED in Diwaniya district earlier in the day.
