Evacuation of a High School After the Discovery of an Unexploded Bomb

In a recent incident that highlights the importance of safety measures in educational institutions, the Technological High School in Jidvei, Alba County, underwent a dramatic evacuation following the discovery of an unexploded bomb projectile.

The evacuation was prompted when workers conducting renovations in one of the school buildings stumbled upon a potential projectile. Although the individuals present at the school were located in a different building at the time of the discovery, precautionary measures were immediately implemented, leading to the suspension of classes and the evacuation of approximately 180 students, teachers, staff, and workers.  Authorities swiftly responded to the situation by ensuring the safety of all individuals on the premises. The local Emergency Inspectorate (ISU Alba) coordinated the evacuation efforts, with police officers from the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ Alba) overseeing the process. These measures were taken to safeguard everyone until specialized intervention forces arrived at the scene.

Following thorough inspection and assessment by a pyrotechnic team, it was determined that the discovered object was a 50-millimeter unexploded bomb projectile, lacking an explosive charge. This conclusion alleviated concerns of potential detonation, and the pyrotechnic team safely disposed of the projectile.

This incident underscores the critical importance of safety protocols in educational environments. While the discovery of such objects can be alarming, prompt and coordinated responses, as demonstrated in this case, are essential in ensuring the protection and well-being of students, staff, and the community.

The evacuation of the Technological High School in Jidvei serves as a poignant reminder of the need for vigilance and preparedness in the face of unexpected events. By prioritizing safety and swiftly executing evacuation procedures, educational institutions can effectively mitigate risks and safeguard lives.
