A new attack by ADF rebels hit the commune of Mangina, in the province of North Kivu, early last Sunday evening. The attack, which occurred in the Linzo cell, led to the shooting deaths of three civilians, all men, and the looting of several properties in business houses, the deputy mayor of the commune of Mangina told ACTUALITÉ.CD. “The rebels came around 6:50 p.m. They started firing bullets. In the process, three people who wanted to escape were hit by these shots and were found dead on the spot,” testifies Katembo Salumu, deputy mayor of the commune of Mangina. Local civil society also confirms this toll and indicates that it could increase because several people are missing. This violence is recorded in a context where the security situation is worsening in the region. Last Tuesday, April 2, a similar attack led to the execution of 10 civilians with machetes in the same commune of Mangina, this time in the Mangodomu district. The attack was claimed by the same rebel groups.
