Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Lithuania on Thu 25th April 2024
25th April 2024
A number of train services have been stopped in Lithuania after an explosive device was discovered near a railway bridge in the country's central city on Thursday morning. Around noon, train traffic was temporarily suspended due to a suspicious object found on Taurostos Street near the railway bridge in Jonava, the press service of Lithuanian Railways reported. At about 13:20 she reported that train traffic on the Vilnius-Klaipeda and Kaunas-Siauliai routes had been resumed and passengers would continue to travel. At about 1:30 p.m., a spokeswoman said the explosive device was destroyed at the scene. Since February 2022, the Russian Federation has made thousands of attempts to interfere with European rail networks as part of a campaign to destabilize the EU and sabotage critical infrastructure, said Martin Kupka, the Czech Minister of Transport.
