On 12 April 2024, in Kutkai township (Muse district, Shan-North state), a 33-year-old man from Nam Par Chee village stepped on a landmine on the Kutkai-Hseni highway while returning from Hseni town with his wife after collecting bottles for their livelihood at around 10 am. The man sustained injuries and had to undergo amputation of one of his legs.
