UAV event in Syrian Arab Republic on Tue 23rd April 2024

Two civilians were injured as a result of an attack by a Syrian regime suicide drone. The crane they were working on to repair an artesian well was targeted on the outskirts of the town of Kafr Nour, west of Aleppo.

The Civil Defense team said: Two similar attacks targeted two cars on a side road in the same area, but no information was received about injuries.

The Syrian Civil Defense documented 13 attacks using suicide drones. It was launched by regime forces, Russia, and Iranian militias on opposition-controlled areas in northwestern Syria, since the beginning of this year.

The Civil Defense also said in a report that its teams responded to march attacks that targeted “civilian environments,” and led to the injury of seven civilians, including two children.

The report counted six attacks by suicide drones launched from regime-controlled areas and targeted the Al-Ghab Plain area in the northwestern Hama countryside.

He also explained that these attacks focused on targeting agricultural areas where there is a dam used by civilians to catch fish. This threatens a large number of families with the loss of their sources of livelihood in agriculture, fishing, or grazing.

The Civil Defense warned that this “dangerous escalation in tactics threatens the lives of innocent residents and destroys their means of survival and livelihoods.”

The report also criticized the absence of any steps by the international community to stop these attacks, the failure to stop violations of international humanitarian law, and the absence of procedures to hold the perpetrators of these crimes accountable.

In turn, the “Jusoor Center for Studies” documented the use of drones by pro-Iranian militias 54 times to bomb bases of international coalition forces in Syria.
