On 3 January 2021, a remote controlled IED by Al Shabaab militants, targeting a Turkish-trained police unit (Haram cad) travelling from Afgooye to Mogadishu, exploded at Ceelasha Biyaha village (Afgooye, Lower Shabelle). No fatalities and/or injuries reported.
