Russia shot down its own Kh-101 cruise missile over the Saratov region during the missile attack on Ukraine.

Militarnyi reports on this.

The local media of the aggressor country published photos of the missile wreckage. At the same time, Russia claimed that it had shot down an allegedly Ukrainian UAV.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 31, 2024, Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with missiles of various types.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian invaders launched 14 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from a launch area in the Saratov region.

At the approximate time of the missile launches, an outdoor surveillance camera recorded an explosion in the sky over the Krasnoarmeysky district of the region.

The incident happened around 5 a.m. local time. Russian social media also posted reports about the work of air defense systems, and flashes in the sky observed by eyewitnesses. They claimed that a Ukrainian drone had allegedly been shot down.

It is worth noting that the Russian Defense Ministry has not officially reported on the work of air defense in the Saratov region.

In the morning, local telegram channels and other social media posted photos of the wreckage of an object that looked like an aircraft found by local residents in a field in the Krasnoarmeysky district. According to the photos, it was not a drone that was shot down in the Saratov region.

One of the photos shows wreckage that looks like the tail section of a Kh-101 cruise missile, which was shot down by Ukrainian air defense on several occasions, and images of their debris are publicly available.

There is currently no information on casualties or damage, and the Russian Federation has not officially commented on the incident.

Previously, a Russian Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missile, launched at the territory of Ukraine on the morning of January 2, fell and exploded on a village in the Voronezh region of the Russian Federation.
