Missile event in Yemen on Sat 6th April 2024
6th April 2024
Around 6 April 2024 (between 5 - 7 April), Houthi forces fired ballistic and cruise missiles targeting the MSC Gina container ship (IMO: 9200689) in the Arabian Sea claiming Israeli affiliation of the ship and that the ship was headed to Israel. There were no fatalities or injuries as the missiles likely impacted the water. Ambrey maritime intelligence firm reported an attack targeting a commercial ship around 100 nm southwest of Al Mukalla, likely referring to the same event (coded to Gulf of Aden). Houthi forces claimed on 7 April to have carried out the attack over the previous 72 hours. The Israeli affiliation and destination of the ship were not verified although the ship could have been targeted due to MSC's trade relations with Israeli shipping companies like ZIM.
