SAA event in Daraa, Al-Harak area, Syrian Arab Republic on Sat 13th April 2024

A young man from the city of Al-Harak in the eastern countryside of Daraa died after being exposed to direct fire by unknown assailants.

Local sources said that unknown assailants targeted the young man, Muhammad Anwar Abdel Hamid Al Salamat, using a PKC machine gun inside the city of Al Hirak, killing him instantly.

The sources explained that Al-Salamat was a member of the opposition factions before the signing of the settlement agreement in 2018, and he later left for northern Syria, returning to Daraa some time ago.

In a related context, the people of the central countryside of Daraa found the body of young man Basil Muhammad Shalhoub, shot dead and thrown between the city of Dael and the town of Ibtaa.

According to local sources, Al-Shalhoub comes from the city of Sheikh Miskin, and in 2022 he was kidnapped by a local group in the city of Tafas.

The kidnapping group broadcast recordings of Shalhoub confessing to planning with other people to carry out assassinations against the central committees in the western countryside of Daraa.

Following his release, pictures spread of Shalhoub showing that he was severely beaten during his detention, and then he left for Lebanon and returned to Daraa a short time ago.

It is worth noting that since the Syrian regime forces entered Daraa Governorate in 2018, the region has witnessed daily liquidations and assassinations targeting former fighters in the opposition factions and activists of the revolutionary movement, in addition to Iranian militia members.
