On 31 March 2024, Turkish army warplanes targeted PKK positions on Gire Amediye hill, Duhok. In conjunction, Turkish forces also shelled PKK positions via unspecified heavy weapons in Gire Amediye area. HPG (PKK) claimed that Turkish forces used bombs containing poisonous gas during the shelling, but this was not confirmed by other sources. Casualties unknown.
