On 1 April 2024, in Ma Naw Thar village (Homalin township, Hkamti district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes on a monastery using a fighter jet at around 4:30 pm. According to Myanmar Now, three civilians, including a four-year-old child, who were taking refuge in the monastery were killed. Eight other children, including a five-month-old baby, and a 65-year-old man also sustained injuries. Meanwhile, Khit Thit Media reported that five civilians were killed and nine others injured. Fatalities coded as 3 using the lowest estimates.
