On 1 April 2024, Israeli forces conducted an airstrike targeting a building belonging to the Iranian Consulate in the city of Damascus - Mazzeh, killing 7 IRGC members, including the Chief of the General Staff of IRGC in Syria and Lebanon, the head of Quds Force, 6 members from the Popular Resistance for the Liberation of the Golan and a woman and her son who live in the building housing the embassy's staff. 16 fatalities.
