While the commando force was walking between the buildings, Palestinian resistance fighters emerged from a tunnel opening between the rubble of one of the buildings and opened fire from a distance. Shortly after the fighters, the resistance fighters withdrew to the tunnel, but their pursuit stopped because they booby-trapped the tunnel with explosives to lure other forces who arrived at the place.
