IED event in Idlib, Sarmada area, Syrian Arab Republic on Thu 4th April 2024
4th April 2024
The leader of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, Maysar al-Jubouri, nicknamed Abu Maria al-Qahtani, was killed in the Sarmada area in the countryside of Idlib city yesterday, Thursday.
Sources told Furat Post: Three people entered Al-Qahtani’s house with a box containing an Arab sword, under the pretext that they wanted to sell the sword to Al-Qahtani.
The sources added that Al-Qahtani refused to buy the sword, or at least he did not like it. After that, two of the owners of the box left the place, and the third person remained hugging and bidding farewell to “Al-Qahtani.”
Then the third person blew himself up in the house of “Abu Maria”, which led to his death and the death of the other person, and the injury of 4 other leaders of the group, namely Youssef Al-Hajar, Abu Omar Al-Diri, Abu Amir Kunisa, and Khattab Al-Jubouri, who is close to the leader of the group, Abu Muhammad Al-Julani.
The sources indicate that the three people who entered Abu Maria Al-Qahtani’s house, including the suicide bomber who blew himself up while wearing an Arab abaya and dress, had visited Al-Qahtani’s house several times before.
It is noteworthy that “Abu Maria Al-Qahtani” was recently detained in the prisons of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham on charges of collaborating, but he was released weeks ago.
